Cabin (384 sq. ft.) in Owls Head, ME
0 miles from St. George
A beautifully crafted shore front cabin with views on three sides of local islands, the Mussel Ridge Channel and the open waters of west Penobscot Bay. Screened from other cottages, the cabin is a perfect romantic getaway for a couple or cozy seaside base for a small family. Spectacular sunrises and the glow of sunsets on the islands are complemented by starry nights and moonbeams dancing on the water. The waterfront provides abundant opportunities for beach combing, swimming, and boating. Two local undeveloped islands are within rowing and paddling distance. Enjoy the windjammers, sailboats, lobster boats and power cruisers traversing the bay on their way up and down the coast. Adjacent to the cabin is a grassy area with picnic table and lawn chairs suitable for cookouts, relaxing, and enjoying unencumbered views of the bay. Because the cabin is right on the shore, it relies on bottled water and a self contained Sun-Mar electric composting toilet . The owner supplies pure spring water for drinking, and cooking, and town water washing. This latter can also be used for solar heated bag showers in the shed immediately next to the cabin. Guests also have access to hot showers in the owners' nearby cottage.

The cottage boasts a stunning view of the bay. Watch lobstermen ply their trade as children climb the rocks along this secluded coastline. No crowds here. Friendly dog friendly! Nearby seafood shacks and restaurants in the area are well known, or if you're nice to the local fisherman, you might have fresh lobster brought directly to your front door. House (895 sq. ft.) in Tenants Harbor, ME
0 miles from St. George
Sleeps up to 4 in 3 bedrooms; 1 full bathroom Named for the child who spent her childhood in this sweet house nestled in the woods of Tenants Harbor. Now, her captivating paintings grace the walls of a house built next to a mountain of granite left over from Wild Cat Quarry and just a whisper away from the shores of Tenants Harbor. Annie`s House is a quiet, semi-rustic retreat surrounded by tall spruces and a well maintained lawn and gardens. Built for a family of sailors, the house is constructed with the sturdiness of a ship and a delightful airiness that all vacation rentals in Maine should have. Located on Haskell Point Road, a quiet road winding its way along the shore, the house has a right-of-way to the shore just 300 yards from the front door. Here you can launch kayaks or simply sit and watch boats pass in front of you — beyond them see High Island, Southern Island and Northern Island. A repeat renter says her favorite thing to do is walk down to the rocks in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the sun rise over Tenants Harbor. It would be easy to walk into Tenants Harbor for breakfast, coffee or to pick up the paper in the morning. Or pick up some lobsters or fresh fish. Port Clyde is just a 5-mile drive away and Rockland is a hop, skip and a jump — about 15 minutes up the road. The main part of the house houses the kitchen, dining area and the living room. The living room has a couch, shelves filled with books, a propane-fired woodstove and a television that receives basic reception. There is also a radio and Internet is provided for guest use. Off the living room find the dining area which looks out to the yard and limited views of the water. Find an outdoor table with seating for 4 and a charcoal BBQ (guests must supply their own briquettes). The kitchen is just off the dining room and is centered around an island. There is a full-sized gas stove for cooking, as well as a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The house is supplied with cooking equipment as well. The full bath is off the living room, with a claw-foot tub outfitted with a shower head.  Upstairs — accessed by a hybrid staircase/ship`s ladder with hand railings — find two bedrooms. The first has one twin bed and the second has a double bed. The other bedroom is above the multi-purpose room off the kitchen. This room is the perfect place to take off your shoes after a sandy day at the beach. The bedroom above is very private with beautiful built-ins and 180-degree views of the woods and the yard. This is also a double bed. Annie`s House is about a little solitude, peacefulness and tall pines creaking in the salty air — all the while, knowing civilization is just a walk down the road. It`s as perfect for 2 people as it is for 4.  A dog may be CONSIDERED with pet fee and acceptance of pet policy. We will need to know size, breed and age of the dog. Owner approval is required.    Coastal/Shore Proximity:300 yards off the property Shared Access.  Water Views are limited and obstructed by pine forest Waterfront/Shore Access: Access to the water is available via a right of way, a wooded path. Consider yourself lucky if you get the opportunity to stay at Clark Point – it truly takes your breath away. Even those of us who live here year round are mesmerized by absolute natural perfection this property provides. Imagine spending summer in Maine at Clark Point, a beautiful section of the Clark Island area of the St. George Peninsula, the vacation rental house sits on 3 private acres on 602 feet of bold oceanfront. The shorefront reaches around three sides of the house, providing water views from virtually every window. Your view is of Wheeler's Bay and the open ocean beyond – you will see boats of every kind moving between the islands dotting the horizon, watch lobster boats haul traps, sit on the deck and watch bald eagles fish and seals sunning themselves on warm rocks when the tide recedes. The Clark Island neighborhood also provides a place to launch a kayak or small boat (please inquire about details of use). This is a private space, a haven in fact, and although there is so much to do in this part of Maine, it will be hard to pull yourself away from your captivating front row seat on the Maine Coast. The waterfront is varied – rocky in some places and direct access to the ocean in others. A cedar lined path as well as a natural path takes you to the shore. The owners love the “morning coffee rock” - a beautiful place to start your day overlooking the ocean. The house has an open concept and is designed to make the most of the glorious views that surround the property. An atrium style living room and dining room truly brings the outdoors in – often, it is hard to tell if there is any land between where you sit and where the ocean begins.  A comfortable living room leads out the wrap around deck – find Adirondack chairs, a picnic table and a grill for time spent outside. The dining room can seat 6+ and offers extraordinary views as well. A large loft (with solid knee wall and its own amazing views) overlooks the living room and dining room. This is a place to unwind and get comfortable at the end of the day – two large chairs and ottomans and floor pillows are centered around a large flatscreen television. The house has cable television and whole-house wireless Internet.  The kitchen is open and centered around a large island. Well-equipped, there are high end appliances including a Jenn-Air gas stove with a grill. An induction cooktop, as well as lots of counter space, make meal preparations easy. Just below the kitchen in a small sun room with a bistro set – this is a fantastic place for breakfast in the morning.  A laundry room is off the kitchen in the hallway with a full sized washer and dryer.  There are two large bedrooms in a private wing of the house and each of the bedrooms has is own access to the deck. The first bedroom has vaulted ceilings, water views, a queen bed and use of the shared full bathroom (tub/shower) in the hallway.  The master suite is lovely and spacious with a king bed. The en suite bathroom has an oversized shower, a double vanity and a Jacuzzi with some of the best water views in the house! The master has vaulted ceilings, a sitting area, private access to the deck and a large flat screen television.  The finished basement offers a den with a futon and a bedroom (water views here as well) with a king bed.  Time here at Clark Point will move slowly – the tide is the only clock you will need. Take a walk, explore the shoreline, ride a bike, go Kayaking or fishing. Drive into Rockland, Maine for an Art Walk or a concert. Head to Port Clyde, Maine for dinner or a Puffin Cruise on the MV Monhegan.  The possibilities are endless...if you can pull yourself away from another of our favorite Maine vacation rentals. House in Tenants Harbor, ME
0 miles from St. George
Chimerique is a property where words often fall short when trying to explain and describe.  The level of craftsmanship and design is awe-inspiring and rivaled only by the stunning location, overlooking outter Tenants Harbor, Southern Island and the islands of Eel Grass Cove. Situated almost directly on the water’s edge. Chimerique is private and peaceful, protected by stately pine trees embellished by thoughtful, natural landscaping.   Chimerique is a newly constructed property located on the Shores of Harts Neck, a section of Tenants Harbor which has been home to summer residents for decades. Minutes to Tenants Harbor Village and a 5 minute drive to Port Clyde Village make this an idea location for those who wish to explore the area. Harts Neck is a dead-end road so many like to bike, walk and jog on this winding, tree lined street. The house also has the use of a private, shared dock, a six minute walk from the front door, for those who want to kayak, swim or fish.   Although the house is newly constructed, the classic and high level of detail make you feel as if you have walked into a well-preserved summer home loved by generations.  The configuration of the house makes it impossible to forget you are sitting right on the water – large windows, French doors and a two-thirds house-long deck with a cable railing system all work to maintain the endless views.     The master bedroom is on the first floor and occupies the left wing of the house – French doors open onto an upper level deck shared by the master bed room and kitchen, offering fantastic views of the water. The master offers a queen bed, lovely furnishings and a private bathroom with double sinks, a jetted soaking tub and a large, custom walk-in, tiled shower with a rain head. This bathroom has heated towel racks and a bidet. A small hallway, with direct access to the deck separates the master from the kitchen.   The kitchen is a lovely melding of old and new – think traditional design blended with high end appliances.  The kitchen has a deep sink, stylestone granite countertops, a large peninsula for food prep or entertaining during meal prep, a gas stove top, wall oven, dish washer and warming drawer.  The kitchen overlooks a small, informal dining area with seating for four – this is a cozy section of the kitchen, perfect for breakfast. There is also a wet bar with an icemaker.   Off the kitchen is the laundry room with full capacity washer and dryer and the most amazing antique soap stone utility sink.   The great room houses the formal dining room and the more formal family room. The family room is sunken with plenty of seating situated around a large fireplace and a large flat screen television. This room also opens onto the largest part of the deck, furnished with lots of outdoor seating.   The downstairs sections of the second wing of the house has a half bath, two bedrooms and a full bath.  The first bedroom has a Queen bed and overlooks the waterside of the property.  The second bedroom has two twin beds and is located on the inside section of the property with peek-a-boo views of the water from one window. All bedrooms on the first floor have room darkening shades. The shared bathroom has a tub/shower combination.   Upstairs is what we call the Bunk Room. It is a wonderful, well planned space. A cathedral ceiling space with a closet/partition with two double beds on the back of the house and two twins situated under the eves on the common area side of the room. This is a semi-private section of the common area. On the other side is a large family room area with couches and chairs and a large, flat screen television.    Off the common room is a large bathroom/dressing room with a claw-foot tub with a shower, two vanities as well as a toilet and bidet.   The common room is a great place for a family to gather after the sun has set, for kids to play while the adults visit downstairs or for a entirely separate living area for those who want their own space.   Please inquire for further details about the property – we are happy to discuss at length with potential guests.   Property ID:  Chimerique  Coastal Proximity-waterfront Waterfront/Shore Access: Direct, 6 minute walk to private shared dock.  Privacy Level High (this can be subjective, please ask with any questions)       Bedroom/Sleeping: All bedding and bath towels provided.  Bedroom 1 Queen 1st Floor Bedroom 2 Queen 1st Floor  Bedroom 3 2 Twins 1st Floor Bedroom 4  2 Twins and 2 Doubles  2nd Floor   Bathroom: Bathroom 1  toilet, sink, jetted tub, shower, bidet   1st Floor Bathroom 2  toilet, sink, shower, tub,  1st Floor Bathroom 3  toilet, sink 1st floor Bathroom 4  toilet, 2 sinks and shower/tub  2nd Floor   Well equipped kitchen Gas Stove Gas Grill Microwave Brew Coffee Maker: Coffee grinder  Toaster Oven Toaster Blender Fans Washer/Dryer Iron and Board Hair dryer Music System Outdoor seating/table for 10+ Land line phone Television Wifi Ping Pong, Corn-Hole & Pool Table in basement WIFI NOTE: SummerMaine recognizes that access to the internet is as important as electricity and running water to most, if not all, people. House in Port Clyde, ME
0 miles from St. George
Welcome to Harbor House, a family-designed and built timber-framed, 18th century reproduction, gambrel roof home on mid-coast Maine’s St. George peninsula. Harbor House is delightfully sited on two-and-a-half acres of ocean front property with private dock facing a secluded harbor, several islands, and the open waters of the Atlantic. It is located on a private road away from the bustle of summer traffic, yet only two miles from the Port Clyde working waterfront and Monhegan ferry, and three miles from the restaurants, library, bakery, public tennis courts, and yachting fleet of Tenants Harbor. Drift Inn Beach, a public beach great for swimming, and Marshall Point Lighthouse are also close at hand. Let’s start out on Harbor House’s broad south-facing deck with its glorious ocean views, perfect for lingering over your morning cup of coffee, watching windjammers coast along on the southwesterly breeze, taking an afternoon nap on the hammock, grilling today’s catch for dinner on the gas grill, or star gazing after dark, with the Milky Way so close you feel you can almost touch it. On the deck you are literally surrounded by nature’s bounty, sharing the bracing sea air with the ospreys busily tending to their young on Grandfather’s Island, great blue herons wading in the harbor at low tide, and kingfishers perched on the dock waiting for you to snap a photo. Out on the dock linger over the views of the surf breaking on rocky ledges, intriguing tide pools, and the scent of beach roses and raspberries. Don’t be at all surprised to come face-to-face with an inquisitive seal or to hear the soaring cry of loons at the mouth of the harbor. Moving into Harbor House, you pass through a cheery sun room with tile flooring, ready to receive the treasures you picked up from your seaside stroll or your sandy shoes and beach toys. Through the glass doors now you are in the living room with its pleasant mix of contemporary and antique furniture, and fireplace (firewood included) if the nights get chilly. Your eye is drawn to the exposed post and beam framing of hand-finished red and white oak cut from trees in Amherst, Massachusetts. The construction technique used is mortise and tenon joinery with oak pegs locking the frame in place. Notice, too, decorative details such as chamfering of the primary beams with lambs tongue stops and extensive raised panels used as wainscoting, all harkening back to New England’s architectural past. To your left is a complete modern kitchen with two refrigerators and stocked with all the utensils you’ll need to prepare simple or lavish meals, and dining area that can comfortably accommodate ten. On the main level you will also find the cozy library, with a collection of books about Maine and the sea, thrillers and classics, and a second working fireplace as well as cable TV. For those needing to stay in touch with the outside world, please note that Internet wifi has recently been installed at Harbor House, so by all means bring your laptops! Overflow guests can sleep in the library on a comfortable queen inflatable bed provided for that purpose. You will also find a half bath on this level, and an outside shower open to the sky that is great to start your day with a shower as the sun filters through the leaves of nearby birches, or to wash off sand and salt at day’s end.

A hidden part of the world. Undiscovered. A secret place. Lucky for you, you know the way. The Beehive, located in Cushing, is a darling summer cottage overlooking Pleasant Point Harbor, a working waterfront. Cushing is a quiet, historic area of mid-coast Maine and is about 10 minutes from Thomaston, 20 minutes from Rockland (home of the Lobster Festival) and 2 hours from Bar Harbor. Near the very end of coveted Stone`s Point Road, the Bee Hive is pure and simple with views of the Muscongus Bay from virtually every window.   Let's hear from the owners... What began in 1953 as a family camping site has evolved into today’s rustic elegance seaside cottage. The Beehive is currently under third generation ownership with guests from around the globe welcome to enjoy the serene setting and comfortable hospitality. Sip morning coffee as you watch the lobster boats head out from nearby Cushing Harbor or glimpse the neighborhood Bald Eagle who frequently visits. Evenings consist of a lobster bake or enjoying a glass of Maine wine around the fire pit while the stars begin to appear in the clear sky. The Beehive is a place for quiet reflection about life or as a home base while exploring the busier areas of coastal Maine. It is close enough to popular harbor towns for activities, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace of the tide coming in and out of our own little harbor. The cottage is suitable for a single person looking for a quiet getaway, couples celebrating a honeymoon or a special romantic getaway. If you have a guest, there’s even a single sleeping space in the living area.. The master bedroom offers a comfortable Queen size bed attached to the bathroom, which can also be accessed via the hallway. The entrance offers a sitting area to take off your shoes and get comfortable, and has views of the ocean from the moment you walk in the door. The kitchen has an oven, cooktop, full size refrigerator, farm style sink and small microwave. The granite counters are spacious enough to prepare meals or set out light bites in the afternoon. Other appliances include a toaster, blender, and 4 cup coffee maker (filters are provided). Basic pots and pans (stainless), along with baking sheets, mixing bowls and a hand mixer. There are dishes and utensils for a full house, and even a few place settings for younger guests. Wine glasses, coffee mugs, and other odds and ends are also provided for your use. The dining table seats four comfortably, however an extra chair can be pulled up for a fifth guest. All meals can be enjoyed with a view of the water. The living room offers plush and comfy seating for visiting or even movie time on rainy days. There are also floor pillows and blankets to go along with the board games and small library in the sitting room. On cooler nights, there is a wood burning stove and if we’re on the property we can gladly get a fire going for you. The television is equipped to stream movies or play your favorite music from your mobile device. We also have local cable channels should you want to keep up with current events. Of course, there is Wi-Fi throughout the cottage and grounds, however with the outdoors to enjoy, it’s a perfect time to disconnect from the everyday. The master bedroom has a queen bed, along with reading lamps and USB outlets for charging devices. There is also a small closet, an antique dresser, and a television with the same features as the living room television. The alarm clock is equipped with an AUX cord for listening to music from your mobile device. The master bedroom also has room darkening privacy shades as does the bathroom. There is one bathroom for the entire cottage (lockable doors are located in the hallway and the master bedroom) and while we do try to provide the luxuries with a soaking tub and large shower with seat, the water heater is 30 gallons, meaning if you fill up the tub or wash clothes in the stackable washer/dryer, you might have to wait a few minutes before taking a hot shower. The porch can be accessed from the master bedroom or off the dining room. There are two rocking chairs and the railing offers enough space to set your coffee cup or glass of wine. There is also an uncovered stone patio area with outdoor dining. We also offer the use of beach towels, folding chairs (2), and a picnic basket with insulated carry bag for outings along coastal Maine. Think peaceful, tree laden haven with the sounds of lobster boats humming in the distance when you think of Settlers Cottage in Cushing. Originally built by the owner’s grandfather, this adorable cottage has recently been renovated. All of the original charm remains but you no longer have to “rough it” in any sense of the word. Situated on a hillside, the property overlooks large, mature trees and Collins Cove and original stone walls crisscross the property. The cottage is outfitted with an expansive wraparound deck with a grill and deck furniture. Have a lobster dinner at the picnic table or relax with a book and a glass of wine at the end of the day. This is the perfect spot. Inside, the cottage has stunning “v-notched” wood, hardwood floors, lots of large windows and the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen/dining room area offers a feeling of spaciousness and airiness. The kitchen shares a space with the dining area – the dining area overlooks the waterfront and the deck and it a perfect spot for meal, games or puzzles. The living room has a stunning porcelain propane-fired wood-stove, a couch and a comfortable chair – this room also overlooks the deck and the waterfront. There is a shower bathroom as well, adjacent to the master bedroom – the master has a queen bed. Upstairs is a sweet loft – open to the downstairs, accessed by a ship’s ladder and, the best part, offering views from 3 windows. The loft has two twin platform beds. The cottage is equipped with cable television, a flat-screen TV, DVD player and wireless cable Internet. If you are looking for a simple getaway – without having to completely disconnect – this cottage is a fantastic option. Thomaston is just 5 miles away, Rockland is 10 and Camden is 20. You are coming to mid-coast Maine this summer for a reason. That reason can probably be summed-up by a few simple words: unspoiled, welcoming, close enough to engage with civilization’s charms but remote enough to fulfill a desire for restful solitude and quiet beauty. Those words pretty much sum up The Aerie, as well.   Located on two acres at the very end of the Cushing peninsula, it boasts 250 feet of water frontage on both sides of the property: Davis Cove and it’s incredible sunsets across open water looking northwest, and Pleasant Point Gut which looks out on Gay Island to the south. The gently sloping rocks out front, warmed by the sun, make mid to high tide swimming warmer than expected and offer easy access for kayaking at all tides. There are only five homes at this end of the peninsula, so privacy is a given.   A five minute walk down a private lane brings you to a small harbor where you can pick up lobsters at dock prices straight off the boats that fish the surrounding waters of Muscongus Bay. After doing the dishes, you’ll probably want to build a fire in the firepit that overlooks the water and do a little star or satellite gazing under the wide-open sky above.   We like to think of the house itself as a Goldilocks house because, like the bed she chose to sleep in, it’s “just right.” Simple, but very well-appointed with a properly-stocked kitchen that overlooks the main, light-filled living and dining areas, as well as an outside deck. There is a separate den for music, games (lots provided) and television watching with a sleeper sofa to accommodate an overnight guest or two should the need arise. The downstairs bedroom sports a king bed, while the upstairs “Aerie bedroom” with its magnificent 360 degree view has a queen. There is a full bathroom on the first floor. The water, less than 50 yards away, is visible from just about every vantage point in and out of the house. Loons and Bald Eagles are frequent visitors.   This is Wyeth country, all right—Andrew Wyeth is buried at The Olsen House (a must visit), just down the road—and The Aerie is a perfect way to sample its singular beauty. Apartment in Owls Head, ME
0 miles from St. George
Situated on a bluff on a quiet road very close to the ocean and surrounded by acres of woodland our studio apartment is the perfect base for a restorative sea side holiday. Perfect for walking and biking and close to water access for kayaking or swimming. It takes just 10 minutes to get from the peace of the peninsula to downtown Rockland with its many amenities. The town of Owls Head has a lighthouse and it is a half hour walk away from the apartment. The road we are on is quiet and is a favorite walking and biking road (we have some bikes you can use). Crescent beach and Holiday beach are 15 min/20 min walks away. Both are rocky but have a sandy strip at low tide where sea glass and sand dollars can be found. Owls Head library is open twice a week in summer and has a very good selection of books. The Knox county region airport is about 2 miles away and flights go to and from Boston daily. This is a small airport and we do not feel its impact on our tranquil way of life! A car can be rented at the airport. In the season May/Nov there is a charming cafe at the airport called "Salty Owl" and an active craft co-op store. The Owls Head Transportation museum is also near the airport and holds much interest to aviation and old car enthusiasts. We are also just 10 mins by car away from world class "Primo" restaurant.

Sunset Cove is located centrally on the St. George Peninsula and offers 200 feet of direct frontage on a private, peaceful saltwater cove. Mature trees shade the property and the large surrounding lawn and a gentle slope to the water makes for easy access – kayaking, fishing, swimming are all possible. Although the larger cities of Rockland, Camden and Rockport, as well as smaller not –to-be missed towns such as Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, Owls Head and Spruce Head, are close by Sunset Cove, offers a peaceful place to truly relax. Birds, water, leaves in the trees…that is what you will hear. The house itself sits high on the lawn with lovely stonewalls surrounding it. It overlooks the front yard and the cove from large windows, a wonderful sun/screen room and a deck. High ceilings create a sense of breeziness and brightness and a well thought-out floor plan makes this an inviting space for groups of all size. The first floor has high ceilings and an open floor plan. The front door opens into the foyer with a stair case to the second floor directly to the right and an office/reading room to the left. The dining room, with a large farm house style table that can easily seat 8-10 people, over looks the living room and is adjacent to the kitchen. The kitchen is lovely with modern, upgraded appliances, granite countertops and essentially everything (and maybe more) a chef of any degree would need to cook in house meals. A large living room, set up for two distinct areas, occupies the front of the house and offers lovely views from a wall of windows. To the right is find a seating area with a gas fireplace – there is also a flat screen television here. To the left of is another seating area perfectly situated for cozy chats, reading, watching the waterfront. A small breakfast table can also be found here. A stunning and well-done sun/screen room is also located off the first floor – a bistro set and comfortable seating makes this the most popular room in the house during any time of the year. Directly off this room is a deck with outdoor furniture and a gas grill. The master bedroom is also on the first floor with water views, a king sized bed, a flat screen television and an ensuite bathroom. A half bath is located in the hallway leading to the master bedroom. The second floor is spacious and bright with three bedrooms, a game room and a full bathroom. The first bedroom is spacious with a seating area, a view of the forest and a king bed. Down the hall find a game room with a large table and lots of board games and puzzles. The second bedroom on this floor is also large with a king bed and views of the water. A full bathroom (tub/shower) is located between the second and third bedroom. The third bedroom occupies a large space and had two twin beds. Sunset Cove is unique in the way it feels when you are staying there – while it is large enough to accommodate a larger group, the layout allows for a cozy, comfortable feeling even if just two people are occupying the house but need room for occasional guests. This property allows approved dogs as well.

Turkey Cove Cottage is one of those vacation rentals in Maine you walk into and immediately feel at home; stylish and carefully considered design, in both form and function, coupled with amazing views and an ideal location make this a perfect get-away. Turkey Cove is a stunning section of the St. George Peninsula sandwiched between the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. This cove overlooks the St. George River (a vast salt waterway) and onto the Cushing Peninsula. Turkey Cove is ever-changing: at low tide you will see clammers making their way around the cove, digging for steamers, a mid-tide you will see waterfowl searching for their own catch and at high tide, boats of all kinds will be making their way out, onto the river which leads to the open ocean. The sunsets are thrilling…the sunrises awe-inspiring. This two bedroom, two bath cottage sits on a knoll with unimpeded views from inside the house as well as the large deck at the front. The lawn slopes down towards the cove, flanked by ancient apple trees and tall grasses – theproperty also has deeded access to Turkey Cove which means you can walk down to explore the waterfront, cast a line at high tide or kayak from the shore when the tide is right. The kitchen is well equipped with a “gathering table” in the center - lots of counter space and all you could need for meals of any sort.  There is also a small dining area between the kitchen and the living room that often does double duty as a place to put together puzzles, play a mean game of cribbage or look through treasures collected through the day. The living room is comfortable and roomy with a flat screen television. Above the living room is a neat loft, accessed by a ship’s ladder, that is a favorite place for guests of a certain age to play, sleep (there is a double mattress in the loft that would be just right with a few sleeping bags), read and imagine. The master bedroom is private and set at the back of the house – it is sunny and roomy with an en suite bathroom and a king bed.  The second bedroom is also roomy with two twin beds and private access to the shared hall bath. The bathroom has a fantastic claw foot tub with a handheld shower. Turkey Cove Cottage is ideally situated scenic walks, long runs or bike rides to Port Clyde Village or Drift Inn Beach, one of the area’s only sandy beaches. Tenants Harbor Village is also close by. Generations have enjoyed the charming Water's Edge House. Now, it is the beloved summer home of a granddaughter who spent childhood summers there, who chose to have her darling wedding on its shores and who now brings her two young boys there during the summer months. Wanting to share its rare charm with others, Water's Edge, which is part of the Otis Point area of Tenants Harbor, is available to others who want a traditional Maine summer vacation. The house is well appointed with modern convinces and classic charm coupled with privacy and waterfront grace. We love the swing in the front yard, the views, multiple outdoor living spaces, a large lawn and the ease of access to the waterfront. The property is both tidal and deep water – great for kayaking, sailing, swimming and exploring the waterfront. The drive to Tenants Harbor or Port Clyde is easy via car or bike and there are lots of places to see on foot. The first floor has a kitchen with island, dining area and living room. The kitchen is modern with plenty of counter space – the marble-topped island is a favorite spot for breakfast. The dining area seats up to 6 people and overlooks the deck and waterfront. The living room area has a large sectional sofa centered around a wall-mounted flat screen television. There is a small bedroom with a day bed off the living room and a full bathroom with a shower. In the back wing of the house are two additional bedrooms – each with a queen bed and views of the water. Upstairs is a luxurious master suite with a king bed, sitting area, vaulted ceilings, an alcove with an additional twin bed and a full bathroom with a shower tub combination. Numerous parks and trails offer opportunities for exploration and exercise, including our own one-mile circle loop through the woods and by the water. The Portland and Acadia National Parks are each a one hour and 30 minute drive. Canada is only three hours to the north. The Port Clyde General Store, where you can get Lobster Benedict for breakfast, is a brief, beautiful, five minute drive. Kayak rentals can be had there too. The East Wind Inn is close by and offers a delicious lobster dinner. Among the many lighthouses is the famous Marshall Point Light, backdrop in the movie "Forrest Gump." Don't miss the best swordfish and local oysters in the world at the award winning "Primo" Restaurant just 20 minutes away. The area has an epicurean feast of great places to dine. The apartment is a modern second story walk-up with a full bath, two bedrooms, one with a very comfortable queen size mattress and the other with two twins, a full size antique slate top pool table, an efficiency kitchen with a large microwave and a large convection toaster oven and other small appliances as well as a washer and dryer and full size stainless steel refrigerator with ice and water in the door. All prisons used to do this until union pressure stopped it in most places. Classic Inns/Restaurants: East Winds in Tenants Harbor, + Clark's Island (Craigmair). Bakery Cafe Restaurant in Thomaston. For Coffee, Cafe and books, try The Second Read (used books) on Main St Rockland. Dorman's Ice Cream on Rt 1. Happy Clam on RT 131 in Tenant’s Harbor is also good – semi upscale.

The Fish House built in 2009, is an architect designed, year-round waterfront carriage house in mid-coast Maine, an hour and a half north of Portland. We have easy access to much of the state and are only 9 miles from Rockland, with it's award-winning restaurants, museums and the sight-seeing opportunities nearby. Camden and it's treasures are just a 15 minute ride beyond Rockland. Our property is part of a private homeowner’s association with tennis courts and deep-water dock, with miles of safe gravel roads and hiking trails, all available to residents and guests. There is only one house barely visible from ours and nature abounds with a variety of wildlife including bald eagles, great blue herons, egrets, osprey, foxes and seals. Last summer we had a seal playing for several weeks just off our property! We are fortunate to have 3 1/2 acres of fir and spruce trees, as well as blueberry, vegetable and flowering gardens. Being sited next to a conservation area on one side, with 350 feet of our own shorefront on two sides, we feel like we live in paradise - and we welcome you to join us! From the little covered patio, the Fish House opens to an inviting entryway, which leads to a flight of stairs and the main living space. Designed for two adults to spend weeks at a time, you will be greeted by a wall of windows overlooking much of the property, Horn Barn Cove and Muscongus Bay just beyond. There is a separate, cozy bedroom with large closets and storage, a full bathroom with gleaming white tub and luxury bed and bath linens. With comfortable, high-end furniture our guests can sit and relax, prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchen and dine indoors - or outside at the picnic table. Our shorefront is a short walk through our yard and down a little path to the granite-lined coast where you can wade and look for treasures or just sit, relax and listen to the water lap against the rocks. For swimming and kayaking, our association dock with kayak ramp is just at the end of the street. There are miles of safe roads on which to bike, both in our immediate area and throughout the mid coast. For a real treat, upon return from your adventures you can make use of our heated, outdoor shower! Whether you’re looking for total peace and quiet or prefer an active vacation, there are lots of options in our area. While some of our guests have come and never left the property for days at a time, Rockland and Camden are just 9 and 18 miles away respectively. Both have supermarkets, specialty food stores and the big box options just ten minutes away is the well-stocked, old-school market. Ten minutes away is a lobster pound, where you can purchase lobsters fresh caught that day and there are numerous casual seafood restaurants nearby. This area is also home to several of the highest ranked restaurants in the Northeast. Numerous other notable attractions include the well-known Farnsworth Art Museum, the Olsen House depicted in one of Andrew Wyeth’s most famous paintings and the breathtaking views from the top of Mr. Battie in Camden. To the north, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor can be a day trip adventure. From Portland, with its vibrant restaurant and arts scene, numerous other scenic coastal towns are fun to explore. We keep an updated collection of various activities and day excursions and encourage our guests to add to it. Maine is known for the quality of light here, which affords unbelievable sunsets... and the lack of ambient light in this area yields a night sky with stars and planets so brightly visible that the night sky, alone, is worth the trip. Mid- coast Maine has long been home to – or a destination for - artists and writers for many decades and the scenery is truly inspirational. Once we experienced the coast of Maine, we knew this area is special and all of our guests have agreed. Please feel free to contact us for additional information...

This seasonal cottage, also known as Crockett`s Cottage, sits on a parcel of land just 25 feet from the water`s edge. Like all proper oceanfront summer cottages, it is oriented towards the water, with beautiful views of the beach and the open ocean from almost every room. A nicely landscaped lawn surrounds the cottage and hedges of beach roses frame the path down to the beach and create a bit of privacy. A hammock sits under the mature maple tree, the covered swing is a perfect place to read and the picnic table will play host to many outside lobster bakes and cook outs.  The cottage is two stories with the spacious master bedroom occupying the second floor. This room has recently been renovated and offers vaulted ceilings and incredible views of the ocean. The master bedroom has a king bed and cable television. The first floor is really quite spacious for a cottage. The den area, at the back of the house, is a great place to relax at the end of the day. A pull-out sofa offers additional sleeping quarters as well. The den has a flat-screen television, a DVD player and cable television. The dining room and living room are combined and this room is really the heart of the cottage. Lined with large windows overlooking the front lawn and the ocean, the dining room table is a place to eat, play games or put together a puzzle on a rainy day. A very comfortable sofa and the gas-fired brick fireplace makes this room a popular spot to gather. There is also a desk tucked into the corner of this room, which is a perfect place to set up a remote station for a laptop — the cottage is equipped with WIFI Internet service as well. The galley-style kitchen is reminiscent of days gone by with beautiful shiplap cupboards, built-ins, and a breakfast bar and is fully-equipped with the necessities of cooking. A coffee maker, toaster and microwave are also provided. There are two bathrooms at the cottage, both on the first floor.  Crescent Beach Cottage is located on a dead end road which minimizes traffic. This is a peaceful place within walking distance to the village center of Owls Head (find a neat General Store there, as well as a library, post office and a wharf to buy lobsters). Within a 5–10 minute drive, find Rockland and all it has to offer. Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, Camden and Rockport are all a short distance away as well. Owls Head is a great place to feel away from it all while still having all the Midcoast area has to offer at your fingertips! Dogs may be CONSIDERED with pet fee and acceptance of pet policy. We will need to know size, breed and age of the dog. Shorter stays in the shoulder seasons may be available with a 3 night minimum. In short, no detail has been missed at this magnificent waterfront property. A perfect way to spend your summer in Maine.  Built by a well-established lobstering family in Tenants Harbor, the owners purchased the property several years ago and completely renovated the main and guest houses using the services of local architectural designer Marcel Valliere and renowned area contractors, Harbor Builders. The result is a breathtaking union of high end finishes and classic, summer “cottage” styling.  Located on the Shores of States Point in Tenants Harbor, Rockledge is spacious with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The guest house/Annex, has two bedrooms and 1 full bathroom and is roomy enough to accommodate 4 people comfortably.  The property is situated with an eye to the ever-changing ocean view – virtually every room in the house has a water view and the wraparound deck at the front of the house, sits just 75 feet from the ocean and overlooks a thoughtfully landscaped lawn, gently sloping to Rockledge’s 240 feet of private water front.   The outdoor space offers coastal living at its best with lawn and deck furniture, Weber six burner stainless gas grill, charcoal grill and picnic table, granite fire pit stocked with firewood. The main house is open and bright with a living/dining area adjacent to a large fully equipped kitchen.  The kitchen has all stainless appliances including a Viking gas range, dual wall ovens and a warming drawer centered around an eat-in island.  The dining area can seat up to 6 comfortably on one table and 4 more at an adjacent table.  The living room, which has sliding doors to the deck, has vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous locally-sourced granite fireplace, and a 42” flat screen television with satellite TV as well as a Bose sound system.   The first floor also has a half bathroom with a set of full sized washer and dryer for guest use.  The upstairs master suite is private and situated on the opposite side of the house from the other two bedrooms. The master, like all of the bedrooms, has a wall mounted air conditioner, a King-size bed, a 26” flat screen television with satellite TV and ocean views. The private bathroom has a custom walk in shower.  The remaining bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and another with 2 twin extra long beds both have ocean views. If it sounds like we are gushing when we talk about Gulls Nest it’s because, well, we are. One of the most beautiful homes we have ever had the pleasure of offering in both form and function and oh, did we mention the view? Located directly on the open ocean on Rackliff Island in Saint George, it doesn’t get much better than this along the Maine coast. Think bold ocean front, weather beaten rocks, hidden sandy beaches, waves, lobster boats and an ever –changing view thanks to the tide. A beloved family summer home, Gulls Nest is everything a vacation home in Maine should be. Refined and relaxed all at once with a large, sprawling lawn, a deck that wraps across the front of the house and a private wharf perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, dangling feet in the water… Gulls Nest has a lot of space but doesn’t feel overwhelming.  The front of the house is occupied by the living room and the dining area, both with stunning views of the water and direct access to the deck. The living room has lots of comfy seating, a flat screen television. The dining area has a large table, perfect for family meals and is right off the kitchen. The kitchen is fantastic with endless counter space, high end appliances, 2 refrigerators and a butler’s pantry. The master suite is on the main floor with amazing views of the ocean. It has a queen bed, a flat screen TV and an en suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub, double vanity and a large, custom walk in shower.  There is also a powder room in the hallway outside the master suite. Upstairs are two bedrooms with a shared full bathroom (you should see the view from this bathroom, seriously). The first bedroom has two twin beds and views of the water and the second has a queen bed overlooking the water and two additional oversized twin beds. On the bottom floor is a large den overlooking the lawn with plenty of relaxed seating, a large flat screen television, puzzles, books and other fun things to do to relax.  There is an additional bedroom on this floor with two twins and a slider to the front lawn. A lovely bathroom with an oversized shower is also on this floor. Rackliff Island is connected to the mainland via a causeway – you get the coveted experience of island living with the convenience of driving to nearby Rockland, Camden-Rockport, Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. It really is the best of both worlds. Important to notes:  1. This property is not pet friendly.  2. The BBQ grill is there for your use, please only use in driveway. It is NOT to be moved to the decks for safety. 3. Please do NOT remove wall decor or move furnishings. House in Tenants Harbor, ME
0 miles from St. George
Two-story house with adjacent studio. The property is rustic and pristine. It was built by an outstanding local cabinetmaker who created aesthetic features with fine detail. You are surrounded by silence and a mile from the lovely Drift Inn Beach, two miles from the Marshall Point Lighthouse, the Port Clyde general store, and the mailboat to Monhegan Island. A kayak can be launched a half-mile away on the public road and there are two public landings within two miles north and south on the peninsula. There are outdoor and indoor restaurants open in the summer but the peninsula is not a heavily touristic area, just beautiful and peaceful and a half hour from Camden and Rockland. The house has a big deck, large first floor and one bedroom upstairs. The studio has double bed upstairs, shower, microwave, pingpong table, washer & dryer mini fridge and sitting area. There is badminton and croquet . Owner prefers two visitors at a time but four if they will live light.

Cottage (1330 sq. ft.) in Clark Island, ME
0 miles from St. George
Located on the mainland at the Ocean's edge in a beautiful cove looking out at Clark Island and the open sea, our cottage was built in the classic rustic Maine style of the mid twentieth Century. The Township of Clark Island is one of a group of small Towns located on the St. George Peninsula. The peninsula is alive with boaters, bicycle clubs on vacation and legions of kayakers visiting Penobscot Bay. From the little lobstering village of Port Clyde at one end (with daily ferry service to Monhegan Island) to the Town of Rockland at the other end (in 2009 voted the second best small town to live in in the USA by Budget Travel; ) the whole area is considered the heart of mid-coast Maine. At the foot of the road the cottage is located on, there is the Craignair Inn of Clark Island, with a gourmet restaurant. This area is why they call Maine 'Vacationland, where life is the way it ought to be.' Easy to get to: Knox County airport is 5 miles from the cottage, with up to 8 direct flights daily to Boston's Logan airport on Cape Air Airlines. Under $70 each way, with car rental available at airport. Or drive from Boston in under 4 hours. Ferry to Nova Scotia from Rockland. Hourly, daily or weeklong schooner tours from Rockland and Camden.

House (1700 sq. ft.) in St George, ME
0 miles from St. George
Completed two years ago, River Tide faces south on a tidal cove off the St. George River estuary, in the heart of Mid-Coast Maine, and has over 350 feet of shoreline. The location on a dead-end lane is peaceful and secluded, but close to the lobstering villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde, and an easy drive to vibrant Rockland and Camden. After visiting Maine for more than twenty years, Jen and Philip designed the three-bedroom house as a quiet and inspiring year-round retreat, lovely in the fall or early summer and well as in the traditional vacation months, where we could bring family and friends. We used traditional local materials - a hemlock timber frame, birch flooring, and white cedar shingle - and were looking for a Craftsman style with a contemporary emphasis. The house is high-ceilinged, light-filled and uncluttered, but warm and intimate. Views from every window across the grass to the water only 75 feet away are framed by mature oaks and spruce. The tide is a constant mesmerizing presence, as its 11 foot range moves twice a day from an open expanse of water lapping on granite rocks, to a variety of water birds feasting in the shallows, to clam flats, and then back again. The tidal estuary is a mile or more across at this point, and can be quite choppy, but our cove is sheltered, and great for swimming (for the hardy), kayaking, and paddle-boarding. In the house each of the three bedrooms has access to a deck or screen porch overlooking the water. The stunning master bedroom with its soaring hammer-beamed ceiling is designed so that you can look out over the water and watch birds from the king-size bed as the sun rises. A door off the bedroom leads to a second-floor deck, good for star-gazing and late-night conversations. The other two bedrooms, with a queen and a full bed respectively, are in the original cottage, now fully renovated and joined to the new house. Both have sliding doors onto a screen porch, with steps leading towards the water. While we limit guests to six, an additional child might be fine. A younger child might want to sleep in the pull-out sofa bed next to the master bedroom. We don't allow pets. The kitchen connects to the living and dining areas, and is large and with stained concrete countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a gas range. It is ideal for family cooking projects, whether for a pancake breakfast at the counter, or preparing for an outside sunset dinner. There are two bathrooms, one with a tub and shower, and the other with a shower. There is also an outdoor shower. There are two flat screen televisions with Roku and Netflix, wireless internet, and a phone with unlimited US calling. Sheets and down comforters are hotel quality,. We have a large front-loading washer and dryer. There are family games, puzzles and a variety of books. An appealing high-efficiency woodstove complements electric heat in the shoulder seasons and the winter. A dining table seats eight comfortably. Binoculars support those with a bird-watching habit. A 5' by 6' Geological Survey map in the kitchen hallway allows you to plan your days. Outside there's a picnic table, a grill and a fire pit, a hammock, two swings, and Adirondack chairs beside the water. Kayaks (two sit-on-top and three sea kayaks) are provided. On calm days you might paddle down towards Port Clyde, or across to Cushing. Nearby on the peninsular there is a range of public beaches with sand, rocks, tide pools, and walks in the woods. For eating out you can sit beside the dock at Luke's down the road in Tenants Harbor, eating a range of traditional Maine fare, or try the Happy Clam, with its German menu in addition to lobsters and fried clams, drive or bike a couple of miles further to Port Clyde, where a range of eating possibilities keep you entertained as, perhaps, you wait for the ferry for a day trip to Monhegan Island, the much-loved artists' retreat. Towards South Thomaston, maybe three miles away, McLoons Lobster Shack is probably the most picturesque setting for eating a lobster that you'll ever come across. If you are looking for more sophisticated diversions, Rockland is a real cultural magnet, with excellent restaurants (one favorite is Suzuki's Sushi Bar, often with amazing local delicacies), interesting stores, a lovely Art Deco movie theater, the impressive Farnsworth Art Museum, and a unique mile-long granite breakwater leading to a lighthouse. And if you want to go a little further afield, you can visit Camden, with its many shops and harbor full of impressive sailboats, or walk in the Camden Hills. We can recommend the owner of a 35 foot Cape Dory who will take you and your friends for an evening or a day sail. Or you can go south to Damariscotta, which apart from being a totally lovely little town, has the original Remy's, the most amazing general/department store you will ever find, where you can buy whatever you forgot to bring on your vacation, and thousands of things you never knew existed. Because we are fairly new to the business of renting our vacation home to guests, we hope you will call us with any questions or suggestions during your visit. We want to make your stay as pleasant and memorable as possible. We love River Tide, and want you to love it too. While we live in the Boston area, we have local connections and are able to take care of any concerns quickly.
